Hi friends,

Life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs, doesn’t it? October ended on a rough note when my youngest son was in a car accident. Thankfully, he’s okay, but navigating the aftermath has taken a lot of our energy and attention. On top of that, this week was my husband’s biopsy to stage his cancer. As you can imagine, life has felt pretty chaotic lately, and my time and focus have been pulled in many directions.

I haven’t had the time (or the headspace) to write as I’d planned, but I wanted to quickly check in. If you’re in a season where life feels overwhelming, I want to share a few self-care tips that are helping me right now:

5 Simple Self-Care Tips for Chaotic Seasons:

  1. Start with Prayer

Take your worries and burdens to God. Spending time in prayer, even just a few minutes, can help ground you and bring a sense of peace. Whether it’s pouring out your heart, sitting quietly in His presence, or praying Scripture, connecting with God reminds us we don’t have to carry the weight alone.

  2. Prioritize Sleep

It’s tempting to push through, but lack of sleep only compounds stress. Rest is essential for your mind and body to recover. Aim for 7-8 hours, even if it means saying no to other things.

  3. Nourish Your Body

When life is busy, it’s easy to reach for quick and unhealthy foods. Try to fuel yourself with whole, nutrient-rich meals and snacks to keep your energy stable. Bonus: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

  4. Take Mini Breaks

Even five minutes to step outside, breathe fresh air, or sit quietly can make a big difference in resetting your stress levels. Tom recently finished a fountain project in our backyard, and I've found that stepping outside, turning on the fountain, and spending just five minutes listening to the water and watching the birds has been incredibly calming during this season.

  5. Give Yourself Grace

Some days, you’ll accomplish less, and that’s okay. Not every season is about productivity—some are about surviving with faith and love intact.

I don’t know what’s ahead for us, but I do know this: God’s grace is sufficient, even on the hard days. We’re taking things one step at a time, and I’m learning to lean on Him even more in this season.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as I navigate this time with my family. I’ll continue to update as I can and will be back to sharing more soon. In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you—what are your go-to self-care practices when life gets overwhelming?

With love and gratitude,

Betsy
